Great Atlantic Media Group Acceptable Uses Policy
and Service Guidelines

Great Atlantic Media Group provides web hosting to hundreds of clients, and we have a responsibility to protect each client and to provide the best services available. The following guidelines were designed to ensure these obligations are met.

Content Restrictions:
All services provided by Great Atlantic Media Group Hosting may be used for lawful purposes only. Transmission, storage or presentation of any information, data or material in violation of any United States Federal, State or City law is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, material we judge to be threatening, obscene, or pornographic, or material protected by trade secret and other statute. 

The subscriber agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Great Atlantic Media Group Hosting from any claims resulting from the use of the service which damages the subscriber or any other party. Great Atlantic Media Group will be the sole arbiter in determining violations of this provision.

Also prohibited are sites that promote any illegal activity or present content that may be damaging to Great Atlantic Media Group servers or any other server on the internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited.

Examples of unacceptable content or links:

  • Pirated software

  • Hacker programs or archives

  • Warez sites

Great Atlantic Media Group will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes "unacceptable content" or any other violations of the above provisions. 

Commercial Advertising - Email:
Spamming, or the sending of unsolicited email, from a Great Atlantic Media Group server, or using an email address or domain that is maintained on a Great Atlantic Media Group machine as reference is STRICTLY prohibited. Great Atlantic Media Group will be the sole arbiter as to what constitutes a violation of this provision. If spam is sent from any  account (either by the you or any of your customers), there will be one initial warning to you. A second violation will result in a fine of $250 for the you and immediate termination of the account. An investigation fee of $125 per hour may also be applicable if System Administrators have to spend considerable time tracking down the violators of this provision.

Resource Usage:
Users may not initiate the following on our servers:

  • Run any process that requires more than 8Mb of memory space, more than 30 CPU seconds, or use more than 5% of all available system resources at any time.
  • Run any type of interactive real-time chat applications that require server resources. Remotely-hosted services are fully allowed.
  • Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
  • Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.

Users are also required to abide by the following:

  • Databases are only to be used for Great Atlantic Media Group hosted web sites, and no outside access will be granted.

IRC
We currently do not allow IRC or IRC bots to be operated on our servers.

Server Abuse:
Any attempt to undermine or cause harm to a server, or customer, of Great Atlantic Media Group is strictly prohibited.

Refusal of Service:
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or suspend service at our sole discretion.

Backup Policy:
Great Atlantic Media Group does regular system backups for the purpose of being able to restore accounts in case of system or hardware failure. Please note that it is the your responsibility to always keep backup copies of their web data and client information. Unless you have specifically purchased our managed backup services, Great Atlantic Media Group services do not include restoring data that has been deleted due to user error. In such a case, the user should re-create the account and upload their data back to the server. Clients can request backups restored by Great Atlantic Media Group but there is a minimum charge of $50.00 for this service (unless you have purchased the managed backup service).

All Sub-Networks, distributive hosting sites and dedicated servers of Great Atlantic Media Group must adhere to the above policies. Failure to follow any term or condition will be grounds for immediate account deactivation.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds are given for accounts cancelled within 30 days, excluding setup fees and any charges for overages, provided the cancellation request is submitted via our cancellation form at http://gtatcorp.com/Support/cancel.html. After the initial 30-day period, no refunds are given.
